Vietnam's Trade Remedies Authority has accepted an anti-dumping petition on cold-rolled stainless steel from China, Indonesia and Taiwan, with a decision on whether to open an investigation due by mid-November, Shanghai Metals Market reported on 20 October 2026 (source 1).
- The authority received the application from domestic producers on 4 August 2026, asked for more information on 18 August and received it on 14 September (source 2).
- On 29 September it confirmed the application as complete and valid. Domestic producers had until 12 October to submit information (source 2).
- The authority then has 45 days to send its recommendation to the Minister of Industry and Trade (source 2).
- This is a procedural step: no investigation has been opened, and no finding of dumping or injury has been made (source 2).
What this means for buyers
No duty applies today. For fabricators in Vietnam who buy stainless sheet for kitchen equipment, enclosures or food machinery, the question is what happens next. Practical steps:
- Check your origin mix: ask suppliers which mills your cold-rolled stainless comes from.
- Watch mid-November: an opened investigation would be the signal to review supply contracts.
- Protect long quotes: consider a material-price clause on fixed-price stainless jobs, and reduce scrap with tight nesting — see our cost per part calculator.
